Making money on the Internet is like a dream for a lot of us. There are hundreds of thousands of people who are trying to learn how to make money online as we speak.
There are thousands of blogs and discussion forums about the subject. There are hundreds of eBooks and especial online courses that promise to teach people who to make a living online.
Try Swagbucks, the famous rewards program that pays you for watching videos, taking surveys, shopping and more.
Of course, there are also many thousands of people who do carve out their living working online and from home. Sadly, it seems like almost 99% of the people who try to earn money online, never do succeed.
I participate in lots of online discussion forums, all related to Internet marketing and working from home and I can’t count the number of times I have seen people give up after months and in some cases years of trying different methods and strategies.
They try every single method they come across. They buy every little shiny tool and e-Book they see, hoping that it will be the key to unlocking the mysteries of making money on the Internet.
Of course, they never do find that key. So, after spending hundreds of hours and perhaps thousands of dollars trying to crack the code, they realize they can’t go any further and they just give up.
What most of these folks haven’t realized is the fact that there is no key, there is no secret to making money online, there is no magic tool thats gonna allow them to get rich over night, there is no e-Book thats gonna show them how to make money fast and easy without doing any work.
The simple and perhaps dreadful truth is that making money on the Internet takes real hard work and dedication. You can’t just work a few hours and expect to get results. You can’t just browse the web endlessly reading articles and blog posts about making money and think you are going to make money by tomorrow.
If you have to only sign up for one paid survey site to make money with, I recommend Ipsos-iSay. Ipsos is the most fun and well-paying panel. Give it a try to see how you like it. It is free anyway!
So, How Do You Actually Start Making Money On The Internet?…
1- Choose A Method
Well, first you pick a method, a strategy, an online money-making method that has proven track record. A method that others are succeeding with. There are hundreds of them, from blogging and membership websites to affiliate marketing, eBay, freelancing, CPA and everything in between.
Just pick a method that you know other people are having success with. Maybe pick something that you have some interest in as well, as it will make it easier to keep going down the road when you feel like giving up.
2- Learn What You Have To Do
Then, you do some research top find out whats needed to get this method to produce results for you. You don’t want to spend an entire year doing that. I found the best way is to simply take action, get it going, put what you have learned into use.
Lets say you choose to make money with a website. As soon as you know the basics, get your site up and running. Don’t worry about making everything perfect. Believe me, you will have lots of time down the road to fix things. What matter now is that you do something, that you take action.
3- Keep Going Until You Get Results
Once you are on the road, don’t stop half way through! That’s the biggest mistake most newbies make – they work for a few weeks or so, then they give up, because they don’t see any results. Well, of course you are not gonna see any results in that short amount of time.
It takes time for your site to start ranking and getting some traffic. I mean, some websites don’t take off for years. But if you do things right, hopefully you can have it making you money in less than a year.
Some people may be able to get those results in a few months even. But lets be elastic, for a newbie, there are lots of little things that are going to cause problem. So, you have to give yourself enough time.
Now, I am not saying you stick with a method even if it’s a loser. If you know a method is not gonna work, then sure, by all means, don’t waste your time on it. Though, if you do your homework before hand, you wouldn’t have to worry about this problem as you would be picking a method that you know works.
4- Scale It Up
Once you found a method that works for you, scale it up. Once you start to make some money, use some of that money to build more websites, or maybe put some of that money towards making that one site bigger and better so it can produce more money for you.
Some people build authority sites with their initial site, some people build other smaller sites, some people sell their site and build another one. Whatever you do, keep it moving, scale it up so you can make more money
5- Diversify
You don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket, especially when it comes to online money making. Take making money with websites for example, You build the site, get it to rank for lots of keywords, the site starts to get some traffic and you start to make some money. But then all of a sudden your site loses its search engine ranking and traffic drops, and with it goes your earnings. What are you going to do?…
Yes, you could take a back sit and work on building another site. But mean while you are not going to be making any money, and if you haven’t saved any money while you were making it, you could be in deep financial trouble, which means you probably have to give up your dream of making money online (at least until you are in stable situation, financially) since you have to get a job offline to keep up with the bills.
If you don’t want to face that scenario, as soon as you start to make some money with your first method, start to diversify. Learn another way to make money, so you can have another income stream, so when one day one of your income stream takes a nose dive, you are covered.
Believe me, it happens online. Online money making is volatile and pretty unpredictable (at least when it comes to some methods such as making money with websites and blogs). So, make sure you cover your behind before it’s too late!
That’s basically it! These are the basics of earning a living online. These basics rules can be applied to almost any online money making idea and they will work.
Pick a method, learn how to work with it, work with it and give it enough time to produce results before you throw in the towel. When money starts rolling in, find another method so you can diversify. That is what you need to do if you want to be making money on the Internet.
