Why you should submit to dofollow article submission sites

When it comes to backlinks, not any old link is worth pursuing. Google has acknowledged many times that nofollow links do not carry any weight when it comes to increasing your site’s ranking in the search engines.

That leaves you with dofollow. That is the kind of backlinks you want to build for your site if you want to see results.

Why you should submit to high PR article directories

At the same time, it is known that backlinks coming from high PR pages are much more powerful than backlinks from lower PR pages. Now, we know that PR is given to pages and not sites.

So, when you submit your article to a PR6 directory, you don’t actually get a PR6 backlink. Your article will be on a brand new page with a PR n/a. And that is the same with any other site no matter their homepage PR.

So, why pursue high PR article submission sites then?…
Although your article will sit on a brand new page with no PR, the mere fact that the home page and many of the inner pages of that directory have high PR, will help your article page to gain higher ranking faster (especially with directories that have good internal linking structure), thus giving you more link juice. That’s the biggest reason why you would want to submit your articles to higher PR article submission sites.

Of course, (in most cases) high PR article sites get lots more traffic than their lower PR cousins. And that means with well written articles, you can divert some of that traffic to your own site. That’s the second biggest reason why you would want to submit your articles to high PR directories.

Why you should also submit articles to nofollow article directories

So, if only links from dofollow sites are counted when it comes to your site’s ranking, why then waste time and submit articles to nofollow sites?…

Link diversity!

A good natural link profile includes all kinds of links, a healthy mix of both dofollow and nofollow links.

Think about it, when people naturally link to you (which is what Google wants, natural links), they don’t always link to you from dofollow sites.

The same applies to anchor text. Which is why you should not always use your main keywords as anchor texts when building backlinks. You should use a mix of your main keywords, LSI (Latent semantic indexing) keywords(synonyms or related keywords), as well as generic phrases such as “click here”, “read this”, etc.

Having a natural looking backlink profile has become even more important after Google’s latest Penguin update where sites with high percentage of keywords anchor texts are penalized for so called “over optimization”.

Although, finding dofollow article directories and their page rank isn’t that hard, it’s very time consuming to sort through hundreds of article directories to determine their page rank, and whether or not they are dofollow.

That’s why I decided to do some research and gather a list of dofollow article directories along with their page rank, so you don’t have to.
