Where can I get a free credit report?… Accessing your credit report is a great way to keep an eye on your statues, especially if you are trying to establish credit for the first time, or are trying to improve your score.
That is why getting a free credit report is one of the most often asked questions by people concerned about their credit statues, and sadly, one of the worst ways of spending money when you don’t have to.
Try Swagbucks, the famous rewards program that pays you for watching videos, taking surveys, shopping and more.
We have all seen, websites and companies that charge a fee for showing you your credit report. But the truth is that you don’t need to pay to see your credit report. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (as amended December 18, 2010) entitles you to annually receive a free credit report from Experian, TransUnion and Equifax, which are the three main Credit Reporting agencies in the US.
Although, several other websites and services exist that provide credit monitoring and score information, most of them offer them at a cost, regardless of whether they require you to sign up, give your credit card number or accept their 30 day free trial offer.
There are three simple ways to access your free credit report:
By requesting it online
This is available on the Annual Credit Report website, AnnualCreditReport.com. Given that this website is supported by the federal government, you can be assured that it is absolutely free.
Once you have accessed the site, click on the “Start here to view and print your credit report now” icon. On the drop down menu, select the state and click on the “Request Report” icon. Complete the application form by providing your name, social security number, current and previous address. After clicking on the “Continue” icon, you will be requested to give information on your loan or credit for identity verification. Click on the “Continue” icon once this is done. Choose one of the three credit reporting agencies you would like to receive your report from. Print out the report and keep it for posterity.
By requesting it by phone
You could receive your annual credit report by calling in to the Annual Credit Request Service. Their telephone number is 1-877-322-8228.
If you have to only sign up for one paid survey site to make money with, I recommend Ipsos-iSay. Ipsos is the most fun and well-paying panel. Give it a try to see how you like it. It is free anyway!
By requesting it by mail
By downloading a free credit request form from AnnualCreditReport.com, filling it and sending it to the address below, you should expect to receive your credit report by mail in two or three weeks.
